PlatformX put cactus leather to the test with Allermuir’s Kin Tub Chair, designed by Pearson Lloyd.
This re-imagined Kin was created through an experiment using a plastic tub shell made from The Senator Group’s waste, plant based foam, Desserto’s cactus leather and a beeswax for the wooden legs, derived from bee hives based at The Senator Group’s head office in Lancashire – closing the loop completely!

In May 2023, during Clerkenwell Design Week, The Senator Group presented ‘Leave No Trace: A pop-up installation’, celebrating the
beauty of waste.
The pop-up exhibition was curated to bring consciousness to
creatives within the furniture industry and demonstrate how we
can evolve our thinking beyond the basics, to harness preservation, longevity and renewal.

Sofa 01 is a fully modular sofa, any component can be replaced with basic tools. Extending longevity whilst remaining sustainable Sofa 01 can be broken down into individual parts to stop the process of disposing
the full unit, a much more sustainable solution to increase the overall product lifespan.
Tables 01 are a collection of tables that explore an array of materials looking to reduce the amount of CO2e.
